The annual staff event of MNU Library in conjunction with the Library Day was held on July 14, 2010 at the Central Library. The MNU Library Team (from the Central Library, Health Library, Business Library, Maritime Library), Library Students from the Faculty of Arts, Student Library Assistants of MNU Library, as well as the winners of the various events from the Library Day joined the celebration.
The activities run on the Library Day include: Gate Prize, Library Quiz, Free photocopying, user survey and a photo competition. All visitors to the library were given a pack of goodies.

The winners from the activities are:
Quiz winner (Health Library): Nuha Ahmed Ali Didi – FHS student
Quiz winner (Business Library): Abdul Rasheed Abdul Razzaq – FMC student
Quiz winner (Central Library): Khadheeja Amaanee – FE student
Gate prize winner (Health Library): Ali Asif – FHS student
Gate prize winner (Business Library): Ahmed Riyaz – FMC student
Gate prize winner (Central Library): Ibrahim Shameel – FSL student
The free photocopying service was well received. By next year we will (Insha Allah) have a much better quality photocopy service. Plans are underway to outsource the facility, within the University premises.
The photo competition was intended to capture role of the library in users life. We did not get too much of an interest from the users. The fact that we were not able to offer an attractive prize could be the reason for this. For next year we will try to attract more interest to this segment.
Along with activities for the user community, the Library Day is also intended to be an enjoyable time for the library service providers – the library staff team. From the inception of the Centralized Library service in 2005, it has been a tradition to have an annual library staff dinner . The event was introduced in 2006 in April, the first year after centralization. From 2008, this event has been moved to July to coincide with the Library Day activities.
This years’ event was as colorful as the other years. This year it was made more special by inviting the library day winners and ACLIS students. A number of staff awards were given special awards to recognize the contributions made by the library staff team. These nominations for the awards were sought as a secret ballot among the staff team.
